With Fathers Day this week, I took a look at the subject of men and art. As with most things, men respond differently to artwork than women do. They respond to color, shape and subject that resonate for them personally. I find it very interesting to work with women and men both separately and together as a couple. I selected a few re: artworks that speak to the bold color, graphic images and content that tend to be more man-centric. Many of the artworks combine the 6 elements that I have selected.

Celebrating with Art // 5 Years Together
Time flies! It feels like a few months ago that a girlfriend suggested I stop in to the beautiful new home store that just opened in Rye and meet the owners. I did, and since then, almost 5 years ago, we have worked together. Aly Drew and Bets Miller have been great partners, they have a fabulous store, and a terrific venue to showcase Romanoff Elements artwork to compliment their array of home decor products. I’m happy to be part of their anniversary party to celebrate 5 years but more than that, I want to thank them both for welcoming me and the re:artists into their “nest”. It's March, it’s still winter but the light has changed, and that feels good, the mornings are brighter, and the days are longer. The color white is about light, there is no absolute white, there are the many shades that reflect what is around it. This time of year, the reference to “winter white” is to a warm color, whether in fashion, or home or art, the yellow undertones feel cozy and at the same time fresh, just like the March light. Cool whites have a touch of blue, and there are many shades in between. The beauty of white is that it’s uplifting, it’s literally lighter than the heavy tones we are accustomed to all winter. As the year ends, we are reflecting on the busy year we had at Romanoff Elements. A highlight that comes along with working on different projects are the people we have met along the way, and the friends we have made. A Different Perspective // About Men & Art
With Fathers Day approaching, I was thinking about appropriate artworks for men. This led to some reading on the differences of men, women, what they like and why there is a difference. The third Sunday of June each year acknowledges and celebrate fathers and fatherhood. I have to add that this day came about after Mothers Day was established, a twist, honoring the women came first! Families celebrate the gifts of fatherhood in many ways, but with our consumer culture, there is focus on what to buy for the dads in your life.
